Funeral services for Carolyn Blalock, 74, of Gladewater, will be Ten o'clock in the morning, Wednesday, June 14, 2017, in the Chapel of Welch Funeral Home in Longview, Texas. The family will receive friends, Tuesday, five to seven in the evening, June 13, 2017, in the Garden Court of Welch Funeral Home.
Carolyn Blalock was born on June 20th, 1942, in Longview, Texas to the late George and Ruby Farnham Bryant. She attend Calvary Baptist Church in Gladewater. Ms. Blalock spent her young adulthood as a devoted wife and mother making sure their needs were always met. In 1979, along with her sister Claudette, she completed her education and became a 1st grade teacher. She has continually serviced the Union Grove School District for 35 years. She dedicated her life to teaching and was passionate about the students of Union Grove. Generations of students and staff will remember her legacy. At home, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends and the outdoors.
Survivors include one daughter, Penney Hedrick and husband Mark of Gladewater; three sons, Allen and Louise Blalock of Diana, Michael Blalock of Longview, and Ricky Blalock of Gladewater. Carolyn was blessed with eight grandchildren, Cody and Kylee Jorgenson of Hawkins, Wyatt Hedrick of Gladewater, Melanie and Kris Hahn of Clinton,TN, Dylan Blalock of Dallas, Brian Blalock and Austin and Cheyenne of Harleton, Brittany Blalock, Tiffany and Billy of Redwater; seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Other survivors include her sister, Claudette Moughon of Longview, and brother, Paul Bryant of Chalk Hill.
Her husband, Reuben Austin Blalock, Jr.; three brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
