Doyalene E SimpsonOctober 9, 1923 ~ October 24, 2017 (age 94)
October 24th, 2017, marked the passing of as loving a heart as this world could every hope to see. Doyalene Elizabeth Gipson Simpson was born October 9th, 1923, in Gilmer, Texas to William O. and Edna Crystal Willeford Gipson. She was the oldest of four daughters. Earlene Gregg and Nell Conley preceded her in death, and Maxine Kennedy who lives in Whitehouse.
Upon graduating from Diana High School in 1941, she married Ross D. Simpson, her high school sweetheart, a loving union spanned 56 years until Ross' death in 1996. Their marriage produced four children - two sons, Norman Ross Simpson and Donald Wayne Simpson, and two daughters, Charlotte Ann Mitchell and Susan Elizabeth Halligan.
In 1969 Doyalene and Ross moved to Aurora, Colorado with their youngest daughter. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, she opened a successful catering business, operating out of the Denver GM Training Center.
Weekends would frequently find Doyalene and Ross outdoors, camping, fishing, and enjoying the beauty of the Rockies.
On Ross' retirement in 1985, they returned to East Texas. Over the years she saw her family grow to include 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was never happier than when surrounded by her little ones. She was truly born to be a mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Church of Christ attending as long as she was physically able, and always anchored her faith on the Holy Bible.
One of life's cruelest ironies is the bigger the place one has in your heart, the bigger the hole left when they leave us. To her large family and so many friends she made over the years, that is a testament to the place she held, and will always hold in their hearts. She touched everyone she met in her 94 years, and made their lives so much richer by having done so.
