Graveside services for Melody Neuville, 82, of Arlington, Texas, and formerly of Hallsville will be held 10 A.M. Wednesday, April 11,2018, at Memory Park Cemetery in Longview. The family will receive friends at Welch Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday April 10, 2018.
Born April 28, 1935, to Ralph and Myrtle Skinner McPherson in Hallsville, TX where she lived for most of her life. She graduated from Hallsville ISD, in 1953 where she was voted happiest girl her senior year. She also played basketball for 4 years and was a cheerleader. She went to work in the Harrison County Tax office in 1953 and was elected County Tax Assessor in 1970. In 1975, she resigned from the county after 22 years of service and went back home to Hallsville ISD as the school tax collector where she worked for 21 years and retired in 1996. She served on the Hallsville City Council for 8 years, and also volunteered on several committees at First Baptist Church Hallsville. She loved being around people and loved to sing in the choir. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jeanie and Donny Meadows, son and daughter-in-law Jim and Jane Barton, daughter Shelia Gilliam, step son and his wife Johnny and Terrie Neuville, step son James Ray Neuville, and one brother Billy Ray McPherson, 12 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
