Milton “Bunky” Patton age 86 of Little Elm, formerly of Longview, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018 in Plano. Bunky was born April 21, 1931 in Boerne, Texas to Edd Larry and Hazel Pearl Hutchinson Patton.
Bunky was a Christian man, and the owner of Head Repair Services of Longview for many years. He lied about his age and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp at age 15 after Pearl Harbor and later served in the United States Army. He was an avid coin and gun collector, in his later years, buying and trading more than his family may ever know. His passion was baseball and the Texas Rangers. Even when his eyesight started to fail, he could still call balls and strikes by the sound the ball made when it hit the mitt. He would watch the Rangers anytime they were on TV, bypassing all other teams.
Bunky knew how to work hard and always believed in giving a full day’s work. That is the reason he stressed and valued education to his family and friends so much. He held many jobs and lived a very colorful life and shared stories with his family and friends. His family and friends always came first, doing whatever he could to help.
He is survived by grandsons Gary Patton and wife Leslie, James Harkreader and wife Sandy, and Robert Harkreader, two granddaughters Donna Roberts and Cindi Duran, 11 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild.
Preceding him in death are his wife of 41-years Ann Patton, both his parents, four siblings Bess Simpson, Larry Patton, Lynn Patton and Maxine Morgan, three children, Fay Patton, Bud Harkreader, and Jack Adams, one grandchild Wayne Harkreader, and one great-great grandchild Hunner Yzaguirre.
Visitation will be held in the Welch Funeral Home Garden Court on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 6:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M.
Graveside services will be held at Grace Hill Cemetery on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Lauren Clark officiating. Military Honors will be provided by VFW 4002 of Longview.
