Zachary (Zack) Davis Golden began his eternal adventure Friday, March 9th by releasing the baggage and cares of this world for a new home where his humor, music and gregarious personality will find respite among a heavenly audience.
Born October 27, 1989 in Longview, Texas to Randy and Renee Golden, Zack grew up in Sabine. His blossoming personality and jovial spirit stayed with him even beyond his high school graduation in 2008.
His singing talent, humor and infectious smile were his leads, but a genuine spirit and concern for others were his strength. Never one to judge, he quickly and readily accepted people as they were. An avid entertainer, he was a DJ and EDM show master of ceremonies who was energized by connecting with his audience. Known as a great dancer, his love for music was only slightly less intense than his love for friends.
Those friends (and few people weren’t) knew him as a fierce and loyal ally. A natural encourager to anyone in despair or doubt, he fought diligently for his friends’ success, even when they wanted to quit, and often at the expense of his own advancement. His personality filled a small room or a large hall with equal ease, and acquiring new friends was a lifelong passion.
Zack was an adventurous soul, and he loved the outdoors, sharing his findings with anyone and
everyone. He displayed a quick wit, a relaxed air and a voracious appetite for spirited conversation.
Left to cherish and celebrate his unique, albeit abbreviated, life of gifts are his parents, Randy and Renee Golden of Kilgore; sister Candace, whom he considered “his partner in crime”; and, the true apple of his eye, his nephew Jude. Zack’s legacy is also solidified in his love for numerous aunts, uncles and cousins (by blood and by choice).
While his family is heartbroken, the numerous memories and notes from so many whose lives were impacted by his presence are comforting. Everyone will celebrate the powerful space he inhabited and cherish the place within each of us where he will remain.
We will be gathering to remember Zack at the Garden Court of Welch Funeral Home in Longview, TX on Tuesday evening, March 13th, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. There is no formal service, but we will have a couple of videos and some speakers around 6:30 PM. Please come and celebrate his life with us.
