Alice Mozelle (Hall) Barton

May 3, 1940 ~ June 27, 2018 (age 78)
Mozelle was born on May 3, 1940, joining her twin brothers, Richard and Russell, and brother Ralph on May 3, 1940. Her younger sister, Lily Pearl “Cooky”, arrived later and completed the family. Mozelle passed away on June 27, 2018.
The family moved to Hallsville, Texas in April 1948 and quickly bonded with the community. Mozelle and her younger sister, Cooky, would travel by horse back to Sunday school. Mozelle was a member of the band and played the trombone in high school. She graduated from Hallsville High School in 1958 and continued her friendships with her classmates throughout her life.
Her twin brothers sent Mozelle a bus ticket so she could join them in Phoenix, Arizona. Her brother Richard, a Marine, encouraged her “to see the world and join the fleet”. She joined the Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. While there, she met “the pick of the fleet” Bruce Barton.
Bruce and Mozelle married and were blessed with three children, Cynthia “Cindy” Lynn, Donna Pearl and then Bruce Jr. The family purchased the home place in Hallsville and enjoyed lifetime friendships of neighbors, church members and family continued.
Mozelle and Cooky earned their associate degree in nursing from Kilgore College. For the next five years, Mozelle worked part-time while attending the University of Texas at Tyler and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.
Mozelle’s passion was trail riding with friends where she enjoyed camping and sharing the beauty of nature with Dr. Kiser, D. Ebenezer, Davidson, the Churne Riding club, the TRA organization, Wright Patman riders, Littlejohn, Paul, Bob, Dona, and Buddy. She enjoyed the beauty of the trails with Ginger, Wendy, Barbara, J.W, Michelle, Will, Betty, Mary Anne, Cheryl, Bob, Sherry, Wayne and the Minchews.
She is survived by daughters Cindy Barber (Keith), Donna Harley (Troy), sister in law Janice Kelly (Dick), grandchildren Chad Fenton, Jared Raney (Raven), Andrew Harley, Daniel Southerland, and Amanda Schuiteman (John); great-grandchildren Caylon Southerland, Kayne Fenton, Khloe Raney, and Kimber Schuiteman, brother Retired GySgt Richard Hall (Jackie Deen), and Allene Goetz (Chad). She was preceded in death by Bruce S. Barton Sr., Bruce S. Barton Jr., Richard Hall, Laura Alice Hall, Russell K. Hall, Cooky Roscoe, and Ralph Hall.
The family would like to thank Dr. Frase, nurse Toni, nurse Wanda, Pastor Brian Brooks and Heart’s Way Hospice (especially nurse Cindy)
The family will receive friends from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock in the evening, Friday, June 29th, 2018 in the Library of Welch Funeral Home. Services will be held on Saturday June 30th , 2018 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon in the Chapel of Welch Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Brooks officiating. Retired USMC GySgt Richard Hall of New Boston will perform the military flag folding and play Taps for the service.
Pallbearers will be Troy Harley, Chad Fenton, Jared Raney, Andy Harley, John Schuiteman and Keith Barber.

If you knew anything at all about Mozelle, you knew her favorite singer was Elvis. We are sure that Mozelle would approve of the last line we added to her obituary. Folks, Mozelle has left the building.
