Welcome to the memorial page for

Bonnie Lou Heard

March 10, 1928 ~ October 29, 2017 (age 89)
Bonnie Lou Heard was taken into the arms of her Lord and Savior and delivered to her Eternal Home on Sunday, October 29, 2017. A sweet and loving woman, wife, mother, grandmother, friend but most importantly a true, faithful Disciple of God.
Bonnie was born March 10, 1928, to Alton and Lula Lehr. She was one of 5 children raised on a farm North of Woodward, Oklahoma. She married J. G. Heard on August 31, 1947, after graduating High School. They moved to Longview for her husband to attend Letourneau Technical Institute (Letourneau College). Bonnie and J. G. were married just shy of 55 years when he passed on August 1, 2002. They had 2 daughters Linda Gail Heard and Katherine Lynn Schaal Mathis. They were one of the first members of Oakland Heights Baptist Church. During her time at Oakland Heights, she served in the Nursery cuddling and loving so many babies; as well as being a Youth Leader for several years in Sunday evening activities (Training Union). Bonnie also served for several years as a volunteer with the financial office “counting money”. She faithfully attended church until her husband’s health was failing and then her own health deteriorated, limiting her ability to attend.
Bonnie loved church so much, at one time, she was working for Laney Johnson at Mobberly Baptist Church while an active member at Oakland Heights. Bonnie then worked for Ed Ferrell for over 35 years before retiring in her 70’s.
J. G. preceded her in death, as well as her parents and parents-in-law, John G. and Nettie Lee Heard. She was also preceded in death by her older sister, Betty Laubach and all of her other sibling’s spouses.
Bonnie is survived by Linda Heard, Katherine and Eddie Mathis; 5 grandsons, Jerryme F. Mathis and wife, Brandi K. Mathis, Devin J. Heard, Kurt A. Schaal and wife, Holly L. Schaal, Erik D. Schaal and wife, Elisabeth C. Schaal, and Zachary A. Mathis. Also surviving her are her 8 Great-grandchildren Erik D. Schaal, River E. Mathis, Emilee K. Schaal, Ellison M. Schaal, Jaxon E. Mathis, Eva L. Schaal, Kaytlyn M. Mathis, Luke A. Schaal and one on the way. Her surviving siblings are Clarence E. Lehr of Clinton, Oklahoma, Loretta M. Mayall of Guthrie, Oklahoma, and Vernita P. Shirley of Bennington, Kansas. Her blessings were many. She shared of herself with abundance.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation Wednesday, November 1st, 2017 from 5 o'clock in the evening until 7 o'clock in the evening in the Garden Court of Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 10 o'clock in the morning in the chapel of Welch Funeral Home where Rev. Mike Cook and Rev. Kevin Bright will officiate.
