Charles M. Dance

February 16, 1935 ~ July 26, 2018 (age 83)

Charles Maurice Dance, 83, of White Oak, Texas, was gracefully resurrected by his Lord, Jesus Christ, on July 26, 2018, at 8:01am.
Charles was brought onto the Earth on February 16, 1935, in Dallas, Texas, where he completed his schooling at Forrest Avenue High School in 1953. His senior year of high school, Charles rejoiced in marriage to the love of his life, Wanda. They recently experienced the rarity of celebrating 65 years of life together this past January.
Following high school, Charles immediately became employed by Sun Oil Company where he served faithfully for 49.5 years. His job titles included mail distributor, roustabout, pumper and, ultimately, technician upon retirement. Charles then continued service within the oilfield industry for an additional decade as a pumper for SND Operating Company. He was known within his industry for his sense of humor and willingness to give 110% towards anything asked of him.
Charles loved the Lord with all of his heart and exhibited complete and total faith in Him. Anybody that knew Charles knows that God provided him with the gift of a beautiful voice. Charles jumped at any and every opportunity to utilize this gift of singing and captivated family, friends and churches with his jubilant performances. He attended and was a member of multiple churches throughout his adulthood including several in White Oak as well as Cornerstone and Grace Creek in Longview, Texas.
To know Charles was to adore him. Charles had a gullible personality, a smile that lightened up a room and a special kindness to all people that came along his path. He was never at a loss for words and made it unmissable that he cherished his family more than life itself. His absence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to have known him. He is now rejoicing with the Lord and celebrating in his eternal heavenly home with his family and friends that went before him.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Wanda Dance of White Oak, Texas; daughter, Donna Dickson and husband, Randy, of White Oak, Texas; daughter, Brittany Cardenas and husband, Eric, of White Oak, Texas; and, son-in-law, Charles (Cotton) Davis of Longview, Texas. In addition, he leaves behind six grandchildren and their respective spouses including the following: Misty Baker and husband, Daniel, of Longview, Texas; Jason Davis and wife, Georgia, of Haslet, Texas; Rainie Davis and fiancé, Pete Williams, of Los Angeles, California; and, Aubree, Carter and Cooper Cardenas all of White Oak, Texas. Charles will be deeply missed by seven great-grandchildren including: Sommer Toler and husband, Riley, of White Oak, Texas; Lexi and Braxton Baker of Longview, Texas; and, Gracie Rae, Lyla Faith, Walker and Deacon of Haslet, Texas. He was also blessed with two great-great-grandchildren: Wesley and Demi Toler of White Oak, Texas. Other surviving family members include the following: sister, Nelda Rhea of Tucson, Arizona; sister, Patti Murr of Forney, Texas; sister-in-law, JoAnn Watkins and husband, Larry, of Sherman, Texas, as well as many precious nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Ward and Gertrude Dance; his sister, Velma Joyce Marshall; his daughter, Rhonda Davis; and his son, Michael Dance.

A visitation will be held Monday, July 30, 2018, at Welch Funeral Home in Longview, Texas from 5pm – 7pm.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and staff at Longview Regional Medical Center as well as to all facility staff who have watched over and cared for Charles, assisting him in his medical journey over the last two years and then in his final time of need.
