David Neal Reese, age 55, of Longview, Texas passed away on Sunday, June 25th at Overton Brooks VA Hospital after a short battle with lung cancer.
Funeral services for Mr. Reese and his mother, Dolores Jodi Reese will be held on Friday, June 30th at 3 o'clock in the afternoon at Welch Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
David was born in Riverside, California on July 8th, 1961, to Raymond and Dolores Reese. He went to Pine Tree High School where he graduated in May of 1980. David enlisted and began his service in the Marine Corps in July 1980. He served as a Marine from 1980 to 1983 where he received many different medals in honor of his service. David worked for the City of Marshall and the City of Longview. He also worked many years as a machinist for War Fab. David was an avid NASCAR, Cowboys and Rangers fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family, spending time on the lake and working on cars.
Mr. Reese is survived by wife, Belinda, who he married on July 4th, 1990 and four children: Olivia Reese and husband, Derrick of Lewisville; Katrina Solice and husband, John of Timpson; Robert Compte of Longview; and Carlene McGee and husband, Chris of Kilgore. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Angel Savage and husband, Greg of Junction City, Kansas; Haleigh Solice of Timpson; Jaren Solice of Timpson; Jordan McGee; Summer McGee; and Dakota McGee all of Kilgore and three great-grandchildren, Lilly Savage; Saige Savage; and James Savage all of Junction City, Kansas; his brother, Raymond Reese of Longview; and a special friend of the family, Jodi Williams of Rusk; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Reese Sr.; mother, Dolores (Jodi) Reese; sister, Diana Drake, and niece, Crystal Murray.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to any Austin Bank under the name Robert Compte in care of David Reese.
