James Walter Hintson

December 20, 1945 ~ May 3, 2018 (age 72)

Jim (James Walter) Hintson was born on December 20, 1945, to Allan and Ann Hintson in Vicksburg, Mississippi and completed his earthly journey on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at his home in Longview. He was Baptist and gave his life to the Jesus at a young age. He grew up a country boy, working on his uncle's farm picking cotton and vegetables. He was an avid duck hunter but spent most of his time fishing bass and then crappie.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Markab, a repair tender, making several overseas trips to the Philippines, Japan, Taiwan and Vietnam. While stationed in Alameda, California, he met and fell in love with and eventually married Jody Hintson spending 51 happily married years with her.

After the service, Jim worked for the State of California and upon moving to Texas in 1976, sold boats for Skeeter Boats in Kilgore, before becoming a Snapon Tool Dealer and eventually, a Mac Dealer. He ended his working career at Barnes Distribution and Plano Marine.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Jody Hintson, daughter Jamie Hintson, son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Dusty Hintson, sister Sara Marks, and niece, Laurie Evans. His grandchildren were the sparkle in his eye, Misti White, Presley and Zach Hintson, also an adopted friend of the family, Nelda Ottman, nieces and nephews and a very special pet poodle, Tootsie

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Alan and Annie Laurie Hintson and his older brother, Allan Hintson.

A Life Celebration for will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon in the chapel of Welch Funeral Home with the Dr. David English officiating. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation one hour prior to the service.

Jim was a "Southern Gentleman" and will be sorely missed.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorials be made to Heartsway Hospice in Jim's name.
