Johnie Kenneth Renshaw

June 3, 1931 ~ May 26, 2018 (age 86)
Johnie K. Renshaw passed away on May 26, 2018 into his Lord’s heavenly arms. Born in Refugio, Texas on June 3, 1931, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Johnie spent his childhood in the Kilgore area surrounded by a large extended family.
While in high school, he met his lifelong best friend and soulmate, Charlene Ann Corban. Their happy, adventuresome marriage lasted over 61 years. They had 2 children – Rick and Risa.
In 1951, Johnie enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served a tour of duty in the Korean War. He proudly served his country.
Johnie obtained a Marketing Degree from North Texas State University. He was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. He had a successful career in the trucking industry in both sales and management positions. He retired from East Texas Mack in 1990.
Johnie loved his family! He took great joy in attending his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities. “Papa John” shared a special relationship with each one of them.
Johnie and Charlene were active members of the Friends Sunday School class at Mobberly Baptist Church. The family wishes to express their gratitude for all the love and support that the class gave to them.
He is survived by his wife Charlene Ann Renshaw, son Rick Renshaw, daughter Risa Mendenhall and her fiance Mark Stowe, grandchildren Morgan Campbell and husband Ryan, McKenzie Mendenhall, Macy Mendenhall, great grandchildren Paislee Campbell and Tenlee Campbell and his beloved dog Max. He had a close relationship with nieces Jenny Waldron and Debby Tarbutton.
A memorial service will be held on May 31 at two o’clock in the afternoon at Welch Funeral Home, 4619 Judson Rd, Longview, Texas.
For those so desiring, in lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Johnie’s memory to Mobberly Baptist Church – Building Fund, 625 E. Loop 281, Longview, Texas 75605.
Johnie was a man of humor, generosity and love. He will be dearly missed.
