Louie Norwood Eaton, Jr., age 88, of Longview, Texas passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 21, 2017. A Celebration of Life for Mr. Eaton will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 25, 2017, in the Welch Funeral Home Chapel, 4619 Judson Road, with Dr. Cary Hilliard officiating. Burial will be in White Cemetery. The family will have a time of visitation from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Welch Funeral Home.
Mr. Eaton was born in Camden, Arkansas on November 11, 1928. He married former Sara Burt of Magnolia, Arkansas. Mr. Eaton worked for ARCO for 35 years. He was a member of the National Guard for 22 years. Mr. Eaton was a member of Longview First Baptist Church since 1974. He served as chairman on the mission house committee. Norwood never met a John Brown stranger and loved to watch his grandkids involved in sports. His greatest joy was spending time with his kids and grandkids. One of the last things was he said was he so blessed by his lil fellas and lil gals. Mr. Eaton was preceded in death by Louie Norwood Eaton, Sr., Dottie Eaton; and Don Carlos Eaton.
Those left to cherish Mr. Eaton's memory are his wife of 58 years, Sara Eaton, daughter, Andrea Eaton Pirtle (Mike), son, Kevin Norwood Eaton, Sr. (Joanne) and son, Blaine Edward Eaton (Jennifer); eight grandchildren, Drew Pirtle (Mandy), Tyler Pirtle, Brett Pirtle, Courtney Willis (Josh), Kevin Eaton, Jr. (Jordan), Hope Eaton, Dylan Eaton, and Colton Eaton two great-grandchildren, Gracie Willis and Owen Willis, and two half sisters, Alice Shows and Sally Hubbard.
Pallbearers are Mike Pirtle, Drew Pirtle, Tyler Pirtle, Brett Pirtle, Kevin Eaton, Jr., and Josh Willis. Honorary Pall bearers are Charles Archer, Chuck Bellatti, Mickey Dailey, Ken Durham, Stan Glenn, Earl Harkins, Kip Salser.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Longview First Baptist Church, 209 E. South Street, Longview, Texas 75601.
