Memorial service for Phillip H. Rogers will be held at 5 PM Friday, November 10 at Victory Baptist Church in Longview, Texas.
Phillip was born on April 4, 1949 in Magnolia Arkansas to Clinton and Georgia Rogers and died on October 24, 2017 in Longview, Texas from complications of liver cancer.
Phil knew how to work hard and play hard. His life journeys led him to earn his private pilots license while in high school, a tour of duty with the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam era, 15 years in various places in Alaska, then settling into the easy rhythms of East Texas where he married, worked mainly as an electrician, and rode his Harley. Upon retirement, he looked forward to a life of travel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, his brother Clint, and his nephew Seth. He is survived by his wife Debra, his brother Dickey and wife Louise, his nephew Brooks Rogers and wife Brooklyn and grand nephew Brennen, his nieces Elizabeth Melvin, Michelle Lawrence and grand niece Corrine Melvin, along with several aunts, uncles, a whole host of cousins and extended family members, and dear friends stretching from Texas to Alaska who loved and cared for him. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
The family request that in lieu of floral remembrances, donations be made in his honor to the Marine Corps League, Detachment #959 of Longview Texas or the Armed Forces Baptist Mission.
