On June 9, 2018, our precious Dad, Papa, Brother & Friend, Seldon Jackson Ford, moved to Our Father’s House. Jesus came and ever so gently escorted Dad through the Pearly Gates of Heaven where a great crowd of friends and family had been waiting patiently for his arrival.
Seldon was born to John Ferrell Ford and Emma B. Reeves Ford on July 24, 1931, in Chandler Texas. As a young man, Seldon served this country in the United States Air Force and had the opportunity to travel around the world. He began his adult working career as a salesman and later in life he owned his own company. As the owner of Ford’s Meat Service for more than 20 years, he had the opportunity to come in contact with hundreds of people, leaving his Christian mark on each one. Seldon was a very successful businessman but his greatest accomplishment was working and serving the Lord for 86 years! He taught Sunday School, was the Clerk of New Horizon Church of God and shared the Gospel with all he came in contact with and never compromised or wavered in his faith! All who remember Seldon will remark about his willingness to help anyone and at anytime and to gently tell of the love of God!
Among those waiting was his wife Nellie of 63 years also affectionately known as Nana, who had moved to Our Father’s House in 2016.
Seldon is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Campbell and husband David; Patricia Vestal and husband Brad; and one son, Jackie Ford and wife Melanie; special niece, Susan Stephenson and husband Paul. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at 1:00 o'clock in the afternoon with services beginning at 2:00 o'clock in the Chapel of Welch Funeral Home, 4619 Judson Road, Longview, Texas. Internment will immediately follow at Rosewood Park Cemetery.
